On Tour: Pembrey & The ‘Ring Welcome Radical
22nd June 2010
Radical look forward to another split weekend in a few days’ time, with Radical racers competing at both the Nürburgring in Germany and Pembrey in Wales, as part of the Shell Racing Solution Radical Masters, Competition Car Insurance Radical UK Cup and Quaife Radical Clubman’s Cup.
Just as at Spa-Francorchamps six weeks ago, the Masters and UK Cup pair up as a join grid, with 37 teams contesting the round at the legendary Eifel Mountain circuit. As the first Radical Speed Weekend of the year, competitors can look forward to unprecedented track time, with over 3½ hours of testing time across the weekend, in addition to qualifying and two 50-minute races.
Drivers from 12 nationalities are represented, with a turnout of 19 Masters Class (SR8) and 18 Supersport (SR3 and SR5) competitors. The Nürburgring round was incredibly popular with drivers last year and all the main contenders in both classes are attending. The Radical Masters will be supported by Superleague Formula, so it should be a fantastic weekend not only for the drivers, but also spectators.
Meanwhile, the Quaife Radical Clubman’s Cup makes a welcome return to Pembrey in South Wales, with an exciting package of races planned as part of the Dunlop Great & British Package. As part of Pembrey’s 50th anniversary celebrations this year, the event is being televised live on Motors TV, a first for the series.
Instead of the usual two races, Clubman’s Cup drivers will enjoy four races, giving the class and overall contenders plenty of opportunity to catch the champion-elect, Darren Luke, in the series standings.
Racing updates will appear throughout the weekend.
