Dunlop have announced their support of the British Automobile Racing Club organized Great and British Festival package for a further three seasons, and three leading UK Championships have committed to be a core part of the programme for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons.
The Radical Championships, Mini Challenge and the BARC Dunlop Sport Maxx Production Cup have proved to be popular with competitors and spectators alike, and will form the core content on the package for a further three seasons. The package was launched in 2006 with the mission of ‘putting national racing back on the map’ and has carved its place in the UK motorsport hierarchy, complementing the TOCA British Touring Car Championship package that is also supported by Dunlop and organized by BARC.
In addition to the core championships, the first four years of the Festivals have also played host to special events such as the International GT and the European F3 Open championships, which starred at the recent Donington event.
The Dunlop Great and British organizers will announce the format and venues for the 2010 season at the end of the current season, along with details of the other championships that will participate in the package next season.
Quotes:
Dennis Carter BARC “Being able to put this package together with the help and support of Dunlop has resulted in being able to elevate and showcase various championships in a manner that otherwise would not be possible. We are delighted with the results and very happy that Dunlop are able to commit for a further three year term.
James Bailey, Dunlop: “To have a three year commitment from three of the UK’s best national championships is a sign that the Dunlop Great and British package can continue to grow. This agreement will take us through to the seventh year of our partnership with the BARC in 2012 and proves that such a stable, well organized and promoted package is able to entice ambitious, professionally run championships on board”
Mick Hyde: Radical: “This is very good and positive news. We have had over forty Radicals at each event this year. We can now confidently make plans for 2010 and beyond to further improve and expand our UK racing activity. This also gives the BARC and Dunlop the platform to attract other top level club racing series to join us in the G&B package.
As one of the founding members of this package, it is extremely gratifying to see the G&B obtaining its rightful place at the very top of the club racing scene”
Paul Harvey: Mini Challenge: ‘To have unanimous commitment to the future of the Dunlop Great & British package until 2012 from all the core members this early is excellent news. The MINI Challenge can confidently push ahead with its plans for the future with the stability of a package that is now considered TOCA’s successful younger brother’.
