SR9 Success at Lime Rock Park USA
30th July 2009
Following a period of inactivity, the US-based Ven Der Steur Racing team achieved a class podium with their Radical SR9 at the recent Lime Rock round of the American Le Mans Series.
A suspension problem in practice threatened to put them out of the race, but team owner and driver, Gunnar Van Der Steur, drove back to their workshop in Maryland, repaired the parts and arrived back at the circuit in the early hours of the morning.
His efforts were rewarded with a great race and very competitive lap times.
And with a podium finish in its first American Le Mans Series race of the season, van der Steur Racing’s Radical SR9-AER is bound for Mid-Ohio and next week’s Acura Sports Car Challenge. The LMP2 challenger placed third in class two weeks ago at daunting Lime Rock Park and will go up against the likes of Acura, Mazda and Porsche in the sixth round of the 2009 American Le Mans Series.
